Eight premieres and the premiere of five fully electric models: at the IAA Mobility in Munich, Mercedes-Benz presents the current and future range for electric mobility, from compact cars to high-performance luxury sedans, passing through multi-space vehicles (MPV ).

The Casa della Stella in a live night show lifted the veil on the market news coming from Stuttgart, focusing particular attention on its sub-brands to underline its determination to 'Lead in Electric', to be the leader in electric mobility.

Mercedes complete EQ range with EQB, EQE and EQG at IAA Munich

Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-EQ, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach and Smart arrive at the IAA Mobility with a total of eight previews. Five of these are all-electric models, plus a high-performance hybrid.

Several fully electric models celebrated their world premiere at the IAA, starting with three premieres that will complement the EQ range already comprised of EQC, EQA and the latest EQS.

European preview, after the reveal in China, for the EQB. With its seven seats it represents the only flexible premium SUV capable of satisfying multiple daily uses.

Compact outside, spacious inside (with its 4,684 mm in length and 1,834 mm in width, for a height of 1,667 mm), thanks to the long wheelbase of GLB (2,829 mm), EQB is positioned in the hemisphere of the compact cars, together with the smaller EQA. At the same time, the EQB will be the first purely electric series production car produced at the Hungarian plant in Kecskemét. The vehicles for China will be produced in Beijing.

The range initially includes the EQB 300 4MATIC models with a power of 168 kW and the EQB 350 4MATIC with 215 kW. A front-wheel drive model will follow. There is also a version with particularly high autonomy.

This modern-luxury car is joined by the larger EQE, the business and sports sedan with a high level of comfort.

The global launch is expected from mid-2022, with production involving the sites in Bremen, for the world market, and Beijing, for the Chinese market.

Generous in space, EQE is more compact than EQS and, at 3,120mm, has a shorter wheelbase of 90mm. In external dimensions it is similar to CLS, with which it also shares the structure with fixed rear window and boot lid instead of the tailgate. The dimensions of the passenger compartment far exceed even those of the current E-Class (Series 213), for example due to the space at shoulder height in the front compartment (+27 mm) and the length of the passenger compartment (+80 mm) . The seat position is higher and more dominant (+65 mm). The trunk has a volume of 430 liters. The interior design and equipment are inspired by EQS, so, for example, features such as MBUX Hyperscreen, automatic Comfort doors (front) and rear axle steering are available as an option.

The battery has a usable energy content of around 90 kWh and range reaches 660 km in the WLTP cycle. At launch, the model range includes two versions: the 215 kW EQE 350 and a second model. Other versions will follow at a later time.

Completing the electric EQ range is the EQG concept, which in Munich unveils a preview of the all-electric version of the legendary off-road icon of the Star.

With the Concept EQG, Mercedes-Benz presents a prototype very close to the production version of the all-electric variant of its icon. Visually, this concept car combines the look of the G-Class with contrasting design elements typical of Mercedes' full electric models.

The EQG concept remains in the stylistic tradition of this model and is immediately recognizable as a G-Class. The prototype, close to production, adopts the angular silhouette of the G-Class, including its iconic elements. The front view remains familiar, also thanks to the typical round headlights. The all-electric variant features a continuous deep black radiator grille. With four electric motors close to the wheels and individually controllable, the vehicle will offer unique driving characteristics, on and off-road. As with any 4x4, the Concept EQG downshifts can be activated via a 2-speed selector to confidently meet the highest off-road requirements.
