The current offering of the BMW 5 Series is joined by a new plug-in version called the 545e xDrive.
This will be a second plug-in version of the 530e but more powerful and expensive.
At the base of the propulsion unit that it shares with the luxury car series 7 Plug-in, is the six-cylinder engine in the column - one of the cornerstones of the engines in the BMW.
The volume is 3.0 liters and the power of the gasoline engine is 286 hp. The electric unit attached to it is the same as the one used for the 530e and produces 109 hp.
The combined power of the two is 394 hp and 61.2 kg.
Power is transmitted to the four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Performance as a result of the combination of engines and propulsion is significantly improved over the 530e.
The acceleration to 100 km / h is 4.6 seconds and the top speed is 250 km / h.
The combination of the larger engine of the 7 Series and the dimensions of the saloon car means that it is the manufacturer's fastest 6-cylinder plug-in at the moment.
The "electric" performance includes the ability to drive on electric power for a maximum range of 48 km, 8 km less than the declared range of the 530e version.
The 12 kWh battery can be charged within 3.6 hours from a charging station or 6 hours from a standard outlet using the cable provided with the vehicle.
Will be marketed in two levels of finish (Photo: Manufacturer's website)
The new version will be marketed in two trim levels - M-Sport and M-Superior with the first being the entry-level version (but more or less equivalent in equipment to the older 530e) and featuring the driving mode selector, steering wheel gear control, adaptive LED lighting, Electric front leather seats, rear electric curtain, split climate control with rear seat openings, smart key with vehicle status data monitor.
The multimedia system and 12.3-inch dashboard, support for now is still for Apple devices only.

The M-Superior finish level upgrades, among other things, the audio system from that of Herman Cardon with 16 speakers to that of B&W and puts on it the BMW surround camera array.
Safety systems include lane departure correction, "dead zone" vehicle warning with active repair, autonomous pedestrian and two-wheel braking detection, rear cross-traffic warning, rear-impact warning, adaptive cruise control, driver assistance in emergency maneuvering and more.
Prices for the 545 e xDrive start at NIS 565,000 for the M-Sport and NIS 595,000 for the M-Superior.
