Both flush and vacuum cleaner: We tested the Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max

It looks like a vacuum cleaner, but it actually washes the floor and also dries it: we tested Bissel's new washing machine - and it's about the dream of quite a few clean and lazy patients.

However, there is a small drawback.

Wireless vacuum cleaners have become one of the best-selling products for the home - they are compact, comfortable and functional - and have replaced the outdated and heavy vacuum cleaner.

In recent years, a new category has entered our lives: vacuum cleaners that also wash the floor (do not wipe, wash!), And are especially suitable for the lazy who want to save time and say goodbye to the bucket and rag.

One of the leading companies in the field is the American Bissell, which recently launched the most advanced model in Israel - the CrossWave Cordless Max, which also vacuums, washes and dries.

Is it worth NIS 2,490?

We took it for a test and came back with some conclusions.

Design and accessories

The CrossWave Cordless Max, henceforth called CrossWave to save words, comes packaged with a docking station that also serves as a charger, another plastic fixture where you can leave the brush to dry if necessary, alongside a floor cleaner.

At first glance, one might be mistaken for a standard cordless vacuum cleaner - a little big though - but the CrossWave also combines two tanks - for clean water with the cleaning fluid and dirty water collected by the washing machine.

In addition, there are a total of three buttons - an on / off button on the handle, a settings button for changing the cleaning mode between floor and carpet, and a self-cleaning cycle button (which we will expand on later) located in the center and only works when the CrossWave is connected to the docking station.

Operation and use

It is not easy to learn how to run CrossWave.

Why?

There is no neat instruction booklet in Hebrew.

This is exactly why I thought I was doing some of the wrong things, and maybe I was missing out on some important features that could help me get the most out of the product.

The initial activation by the power button on the handle, will activate the brush and the device will work in a vacuum cleaner mode - something it suffers from due to a variety of shortcomings such as a small storage tank, inability to vacuum under furniture and because it does not come with additional accessories.

This means that this is a product that will be in addition to your vacuum cleaner - not in place.

To release water with soap, press the trigger on the handle - and the smell of soap is dispersed in the space.

And this is also where the complex part begins.

The initial instinct is to use CrossWave as a mop and rag - and repeat the same areas as times.

so no.

The best way is to go with the brush back and forth in straight lines.

That is, release water and soap along a certain line on the floor - then go back so that the mop in the net will rake the water and put it into the liquid collection tank.

Has the device managed to be a good solution for cleaning with a bucket of water, a mop and a rag?

Above and beyond.

True, this can be bypassed-but not unless you're a techie who knows what he's doing.

On the other hand, the wheels of the brush leave some marks on the floor that I had to remove with a dry cloth each time again.

Cleaning and maintenance

As we wrote at the beginning, before operation, fill the water tank with soap and cleaning liquid - up to the check line.

In such a package you will receive a small bottle of detergent, but you can still use very little other liquid that does not lather the soap.

The dirty water, dust and food scraps you collect collide into a rather small container, which tends to fill up quickly.

You will need to do the container emptying ceremony when a red light comes on to let you know.

Did you finish cleaning?

Well done.

Now, the automatic cleaning cycle must be activated.

To activate the function, press the button located in the center of the device - only when it is at the docking station.

The self-cleaning cycle automatically washes away dirt, debris and debris from the brush after each use.

However, it is important to note that this operation produces a lot of noise for 40 seconds.

Bottom line

The Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max could have been a perfect product, but it's not there yet, such as the fact that it leaves marks that you will have to go through with a dry cloth afterwards, alongside the inability to clean under low furniture.

Even so, if you are a parent of children, cleaning patients or just plain lazy looking for an easy and simple way to clean them without taking out a Dyson, bucket, mop and rag - this is a more perfect solution for you.
