Members of the hacker collective Anonymous have taken over several Telegram channels and two websites from Attila Hildmann and placed their own messages there.
On the official website of Hildmann, where his vegan cookbooks are usually advertised, the well-known white mask of the hacking group appeared.
For this purpose, a kind of confessional video of the anonymous attackers was published on the website, in which a computer voice says: "Hello Germany, hello Attila Hildmann."
After the takeover, in addition to the video, a contribution was distributed on Hildmann's two major Telegram channels, which is intended to give the impression that Hildmann would cease its political activities.
"Sometimes even a samurai has to hang up his sword and admit to himself that the enemy is overwhelming," it says there with reference to Anonymous.
In recent months, the channel has served Hildmann as the most important mouthpiece for disseminating his right-wing extremist and ideological conspiracy content.
At times he had over a hundred thousand subscribers, currently there are still around 70,000.
Behind the action is the German-speaking group »Anonymous Kollektiv«, which has previously drawn attention to right-wing extremists and conspiracy-ideological actors with hacker attacks.
The anonymous attackers call the current campaign "Operation Tinfoil", ie Operation Aluminum Foil.
Attackers make themselves administrators
The group describes in a blog entry that the attack succeeded after a former Hildmann supporter and IT helper contacted them.
This has meanwhile turned away from Hildmann and used his access to websites and Telegram channels to take over.
Hildmann has no chance of regaining access to his largest Telegram channel.
Together with the IT helper who allegedly supported the attack, the anonymous activists said they had administrator rights in response to a request from SPIEGEL via email.
According to the activists, Hildmann has also permanently lost control of the two official websites of himself.
These have been transferred to a provider to which Hildmann has no access.
In their blog entry, the Anonymous activists also write that they had stolen internal e-mails from Hildmann.
Among other things, it should be about correspondence with suppliers who reconsidered the business relationship with Hildmann after Hildmann was publicly criticized for his extremist statements.
