The drowning quickly intrigued the police.
The Rennes public prosecutor's office on Tuesday opened a criminal investigation for murder, after the discovery on Friday of the body of a man weighted with a concrete block, in a pond in Rennes, the prosecutor announced in a statement.

“To date, the investigations carried out by the judicial police suggest that the victim could be a man of Turkish origin, aged 29 and residing in the North.
His disappearance was reported in Angers "Monday, September 6" by members of his family, "said prosecutor Philippe Astruc in this press release.
"The vehicle of this man was indeed discovered abandoned near the place of the discovery of the body", he continues.
And "the result of DNA tests which has just reached the Rennes prosecutor's office confirms the identity of the victim".
A hundred lesions
The lifeless body was found on Friday, September 10, around noon, floating in the ponds of Apigné, in the south-west of Rennes.
"When it came out of the water, the body was hindered and ballasted by means of a concrete block, and presented numerous lesions in different places", adds Philippe Astruc.
In addition, the autopsy revealed "a hundred lesions that may have been caused by a stabbing weapon, some of which were transfixiantes
