Cyprus and all of Portugal are no longer high risk areas

8.10 a.m.:

From this Sunday on, Cyprus and the Algarve are no longer high-risk areas.

The federal government has removed the country and the Portuguese region from the list.

This means that Portugal, which is also popular with holidaymakers, has now completely disappeared from this category.

The West region in Ireland, Brazil, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and some African countries have also been deleted from the list of high-risk areas.

Armenia, Venezuela, Guyana, Belize, Moldova, Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda are newly classified as high-risk areas.

After stays in high-risk areas, the following applies: Returnees to Germany who are not fully vaccinated or have recovered must be quarantined for ten days.

But you can get rid of it after five days with a negative test.

Spahn draws a positive balance of the vaccination campaign week

07.55 a.m.:

Federal Health

Minister

Jens Spahn draws a positive balance of the nationwide vaccination week, which ends this weekend.

"In the week of action, we managed a total of around 500,000 of the important first vaccinations, about half of which can be traced back to actions," said the CDU politician to the newspapers of the Funke media group.

Associations, organizations, private initiatives and many volunteers made the vaccination week a success with more than 1500 vaccination campaigns.

Spahn is concerned about the still large group of unvaccinated people over the age of 60.

If they were to become infected in an outbreak of the Delta variant, this would put a heavy burden on the intensive care units.

Majority of the population supports 2G rules

7.40 a.m.:

57 percent of people in Germany

think

the 2G rules for gastronomy and events are correct.

This is the result of a representative survey by the opinion research institute INSA for »Bild am Sonntag«.

On the other hand, 33 percent think it is wrong if - as in Hamburg, for example - restaurants and event organizers are granted relief if they are only open to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

Of the proponents, 66 percent would like the 2G rules to be made mandatory.

31 percent were of the opinion that it should be left to the restaurateurs and organizers themselves to rely on 2G.
