Google last night (Saturday) released a new and critical security update for the Chrome browser, which already has about 2 billion users, updating its version to 94.0.4606.61 - an update designed to fix a zero day breach (Zero Day) that has been identified as being in active use.

Also, the update applies to any browser based on the Chromium engine.

The vulnerability, which originates in a specific component of the browser, allows remote code execution by attackers, this is done by luring the victim to a malicious website.

This means that the attacker could perform various actions within the software on the user's behalf - without his knowledge.

"Google did not attribute the incidents to any particular victim, nor did they disclose information about the victims, but they did share a description of the bug and the urge to fix all Chromium - based software on all devices, including Windows, MacOS and Linux," said Tom Malka, SOC Manager at "Security Joes".

Another high-risk browser due to its high popularity is Microsoft's Edge, which is based on Google's engine. "We recommend updating your browsers immediately," Malka added.
