There is currently little momentum in the seven-day incidence in Germany.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Friday morning at 63.8.

For comparison: the previous day the value was 62.6, a week ago it was 64.3 (previous month: 82.7).

The health authorities in Germany reported 10,429 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

This is evident from the figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:01 a.m.

A week ago the value was 10,118 infections.

According to the new information, 86 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 73 deaths.

The RKI has counted 4,293,807 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions - was given by the RKI on Thursday at 1.61.

That corresponds roughly to the value of the previous week.

A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences.

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 4,074,300.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 94,113.

Situation at schools under observation

In addition to the daily figures, the institute also publishes a weekly report on the corona situation in Germany.

The current paper deals, among other things, with corona outbreaks in daycare centers and schools.

The reported frequency of outbreaks is increasing this year about two months earlier than in the previous year, according to the RKI's weekly report on Thursday evening.

According to this, 201 daycare and 481 school breakouts were transmitted for the past four weeks.

The latest development, especially in the past two weeks, cannot yet be assessed well, it was said against the background of possible late registrations.

"With the increasing trend of outbreaks in day-care centers and schools, the expanded test activities and the easier transferability of the delta variant probably play a role," the authors explain about the figures.

Cases, including those without symptoms of the disease, would be recognized at an early stage.

High incidence in children

An average of five people per outbreak were infected at daycare centers and four at schools.

In isolated cases, however, there are larger outbreaks with more than ten infections at both types of facilities.

If there are two or more infected people at a facility, this is defined as an outbreak.

In the school outbreaks, infections were mainly known to children and adolescents between 6 and 14 years of age, it said.

Nationwide, the seven-day incidence last week among 10 to 14-year-olds was the highest of all age groups: with 178 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.

In primary school children (5 to 9 years of age) the value was 142. In people aged 50 and over, the incidences were lower than 50.
