The mother of three newborns, discovered frozen in July 2017 in Lorient (Morbihan), was declared criminally irresponsible and will not be tried for the murder of infants because of her mental disorders, we learned Friday from of the prosecutor's office in Lorient.
"In view of the elements gathered by this judicial information, a dismissal order was issued on October 12, 2021 by the two investigating magistrates seized, in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, on account of criminal irresponsibility (...), arising from mental disorders, ”said Lorient public prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger in a statement.
Two psychiatric expertises had been carried out in 2018 and 2020, as well as a psychological expert opinion in 2019. According to the experts, the disorders presented by the mother led to a total abolition of the discernment of the indictment and the control of her acts " , added the prosecutor.
A body found at his workplace
The mother, in her 50s when the babies were discovered, confessed to suffocating the babies when they were born with a pillow before wrapping them in a plastic bag and keeping them for more than a dozen years in a freezer.
Due to a move in March 2017 to Lorient, she had to move the bodies to her workplace.
One of them was always present in the cold room of the Heliotrope, the ship she was responsible for supplying.
It was an employee of the boat's owner, the Scapêche, who had given the alert when he discovered the baby's body in a plastic bag while he was in charge of loading the trawler before it set sail at the port of Lorient. .
The other two had been found at his home in Larmor-Plage, his former home.
The woman had been indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention before being placed under judicial supervision.
The dismissal order can be appealed within ten days.
