Faced with bed closures, the public hospital is running out of steam

DECRYPTION - Bed closures are increasing due to a lack of nurses in sufficient numbers. An old crisis worsened by the Covid-19.


While the government has continued to pilot the health crisis according to the risk of hospital saturation and at the dawn of a potential fifth wave, it may seem surprising that beds are massively closed at the public hospital.

Yet this is the reality.

For lack of paramedical personnel, one in five beds would be closed, assured the president of the Scientific Council Jean-François Delfraissy last week.
