A parody of a villain.

The presenter of the main edition of News 13, Udi Segal, picked up an important article last night (Wednesday) on the ongoing struggle between EPA and common sense and the future of humanity. "A is CEO of the company Itzik Levy. It may be a good man and a nice man, we will never really know, because once he opens his mouth to defend his secret oil line, he sounds like a parody of a villain from the James Bond movies. "Givat Halfon does not answer" did not show on the screens such an obsession with black gold.If it was not sad (and scary) it would be funny.

The article lacked quite a few important details, such as that despite Levy's promises that there would be no malfunctions in the planned line, only last August did the EPA itself report a "small fuel leak" that contaminated 800 tons of land in the Ashkelon Beach Regional Council. In a small, yes? The environmental correspondent Shani Ashkenazi reported that according to official data from the EPA, 15 reported incidents were found on the company's sites in the last decade alone. In addition, since the 1990s, another 19 incidents have been recorded. These are just the incidents reported to the public. Reminder: A leak of one percent of an oil tanker in the Gulf of Eilat is enough to destroy the coral reef in Eilat, and in fact all the maritime tourism in the city. This is an economic death sentence for the residents of the city, no less.

Segal gave Levy to Barbar patriotic sentences as if without him the citizens of Israel would be forced to ride camels to work and return to reading books by lantern light.

This was the level of assumption that Segal missed, and did not present the Ministry of Energy's announcement that the new deal "is not required of the Israeli energy economy."

Who does she need?

We do not really know, because the agreements are confidential.

What we do know is that the EPA is responsible for one of the largest ecological damage in the country's history, when only three days ago indictments were filed against three of its leaders for polluting the Evrona Reserve. The people who ask us to trust them with the transfer of 70 oil tankers in Israel every year, if not more.Would you let the contractor of the Versailles halls build you a new floor in your house?

The article was important by its very nature. This is exactly why there is a news release, to clarify and make accessible to the viewing public the important things that are on the public agenda. This is a deal worth hundreds of millions and maybe even billions of dollars, we will probably never know how much will reach the Israeli economy and how much into private hands, but in any case - is there an amount worth our health or the future of our children?

The fact that in the same week that the Prime Minister promised the whole world that Israel undertakes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 0 by 2050 does not align with the new agreement. Imagine a person addicted to cigarettes who promises that by 2050 he will stop smoking at all, then sign an agreement to purchase 80 Nobles facts a week. "We know that history will judge our generation's response to this threat - not by the degree of our ambition, but by the practical steps we take," Bennett declared this week at the climate conference, and the agreement with the Emirates is an irresponsible act in every way.

The article was confusing, with Segal, in the role of the serious journalist, refraining from expressing his opinion on the subject.

It is not inconceivable that the average viewer did not even understand what the problem was with the agreement in question, and may have been convinced by the spectacular publicity footage of the firefighters and Coast Guard members of the EPA that everything was under control.

But a good journalist sometimes needs nothing more than a pair of good eyes.

Luckily for the viewers, Udi Segal's eyes worked great yesterday, as they spotted the corrosion damage at the bottom of the pipeline that is supposed to carry tons of crude oil within Israeli territory.

Levy was not moved and explained that it was just external damage, but the pictures of the peeling rust mentioned that these were pipes aged 60 and over.

Staff did not have to say anything, enough to look at the pipes to understand that this is a chronicle of a pre-determined ecological disaster.
