A reform is underway on the financing of emergency services, the application date of which has been postponed to early 2022. This reform has not been the subject of any consultation with representatives of pediatric emergency services and pediatric learned societies, and appears extremely unfavorable to a population that represents 30% of admissions.
In this reform, the financial packages were designed in an increasing and strictly linear fashion according to membership in different age groups (under 16, 16-44, 45-74, 75 and over).
The older the age, the more the visits to the emergency room are valued.
However, in 2017, the Court of Auditors clearly recalled the greater importance of resorting to emergencies at the extreme ages of life (young children and old age).
In a period actively concerned with the health of children, choosing a lower value attributed to a pediatric emergency does not seem consistent.
