The Triumph was custom built for the character of Fonzie, and Bud Ekins, a legendary Hollywood stuntman, retired off-road driver and close friend of Steve Mcqueen, had thought of making it. When Ekins was tasked with supplying rebel Arthur Fonzarelli with a motorcycle for 'Happy Days', the rider thought of something affordable and that Fonzie could buy second-hand, just like the 1949 TR5. In all, three bikes were built. identical, complete with customized handlebar, saddle and mudguards.

All three of these motorcycles were used during filming and remained the property of Bud Ekins, who rented them to the production house.

Once filming was over, two of the bikes mysteriously disappeared.

The other, on the other hand, had several owners, up to the new sale today with the Bonhams auction, with a starting base between 80 and 120 thousand dollars.
