Corona: USA vaccinates five to 12 year old children

In Germany, parents still have to wait until they can have younger children vaccinated against the coronavirus. The USA is further: there, five to 12-year-olds are now receiving the vaccine from Biontech.

In the USA, children from the age of five have also been vaccinated against the corona virus since last week.

The vaccine from Biontech and Pfizer is given in significantly lower doses for children and elicits a strong immune response.

So far, young children have only been vaccinated against Corona in a handful of countries.

Biontech / Pfizer has also applied for approval in Europe.

A decision by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) should be made before Christmas.

Clinical studies on the vaccination of children are currently also being carried out by all other manufacturers of the previously approved vaccines.
