Recently, in light of the severe privacy issues that come with using Google, understanding what to do with our personal information (even in Chrome, as we posted here), a host of search engines are trying to offer an alternative to Google and with less
invasion of our privacy.
The new competitors were joined this week by You.com, which went into open expression.
While Google does try to offer the "right answer" based on how many people click on a particular result, and harness the wisdom of the masses, You.com comes with a different approach: it does not claim to offer decisive truth, offering a host of relevant results from across the web, without pretending to be decisive, like That search engines once were.
While Google has allocated quite a bit of space to itself and its products from screen volume, including answers to related questions that no one has asked for (and does not always yield reliable information), You.com simply offers relevant results from across the web.
For some searches by the way, like pictures and videos, he uses Bing.

So You.com has a bit of a hard time with concrete knowledge questions and trivia questions in natural language ("Who's the Prime Minister?", Even though he uploads Bennett's Wikipedia page), but he puts out very good results in searching for useful information and guides.
We tried phrases like How to peel an orange or "How to cook an egg?"
And we got results that were very relevant and useful.
You.com, which was founded by a pair of veterans of the big Salesforce company, no longer really has a business model.
Indeed, they emphasize privacy, promise not to sell our personal information in favor of advertisements like Google, allow anonymous search mode where even our IP address is not saved and more.
It's interesting to see how and whether this intriguing project will survive, but feel free to try for yourself and get an experience that is not Google.
