Apple today (Tuesday) filed a lawsuit in federal court, requiring NSO to own or use any device, service or software made by it, to protect the privacy of its users.
The lawsuit comes after the Israeli company NSO, which develops and distributes spyware for government use, exploited a breach in the iPhone's operating system to spy on Apple users.
The NSO has recently made headlines again and again, due to the fact that its Pegasus software is used by dictatorial regimes to track down dissidents, journalists and human rights activists, alongside senior politicians such as French President Emmanuel Macron.

The lawsuit, the second of its kind, follows a similar Facebook lawsuit filed against NSO alleging that the latter acted similarly to spy on Facebook-owned WhatsApp users.
This lawsuit is still pending.
This, along with the fact that the State Department has put NSO, along with another Israeli company, on a blacklist of companies "acting against the interests and national security of the United States."
Meanwhile, rating agency Moods has downgraded NSO's credit rating due to the possibility of insolvency and half a billion dollars in debt.
