The Bergerac prosecutor's office opened an investigation while the victim was "fatally injured" by a shot from another participant

One more tragedy, which should make the amateurs of hunting, associations of defense of animals and residents of wooded lands react who fear for their safety.

This Sunday, a 70-year-old hunter was killed by a shot from another hunter during a wild boar beat in the Dordogne.

The Bergerac prosecutor's office has opened an investigation.

The victim was "fatally injured" by a shot from another participant in this beaten, aged 60, when the latter opened fire "twice in the direction of a boar", detailed the deputy prosecutor by Bergerac Charles Charollois.

The facts took place around 10 am in the town of Campsegret, about fifteen kilometers north of Bergerac.

The author of the shooting in "state of shock"

An investigation opened for "involuntary homicide on a hunting action", was entrusted to the gendarmerie and to the French Biodiversity Office (OFB).

The author of the shot, in "state of shock" after the tragedy, will be heard in the coming days by investigators.

The trail of the accident is at this stage privileged, still according to the prosecution.

Fatal hunting accidents are regularly used by opponents of hunting to demand its ban.

At the end of October, the EELV presidential candidate Yannick Jadot proposed a ban on hunting during weekends and school holidays.

An idea "on which we must have a debate" then estimated the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili.
