Approach to the "white desert".
With a crew of four, the plane is approaching - the Antarctic.
The goal is the so-called Wolf's Catch in Queen Maud Land, a research station with an attached camp for extreme tourists.
The special thing about it: In contrast to the usual small or special flights, a large-capacity passenger aircraft masters the landing here.
It is the first Airbus A340 to fly to Wolf's Fang.
A type of aircraft that made its first flight 30 years ago and is mainly used on long-haul routes around the world.
The plane of a Portuguese charter airline uses a 60-meter-wide and 3000-meter-long leveled snow runway as the runway.
The pictures of the first landing have now been published.
According to the pilots, the approach is an extreme challenge because of the strong light reflections.
A tower is also missing in Wolf's Fang.
A man on the ground did the briefing by radio
The A340 now commutes regularly between Cape Town and Wolf's Fang to bring researchers, material and tourists to Wolf's Fang.
