This morning (Tuesday), the "Think Well" campaign was launched to change the discourse on the Internet, at the initiative of President Yitzhak Herzog and Meta in Israel (formerly Facebook). As part of the project, dozens of celebrities and well-known figures in the country will share videos of themselves reading the most abusive response they have received online, with the blunt and aggressive words censored and replaced with positive and reinforcing words.

The goal of the project is to flood millions of followers with the difficulty behind reading harsh responses, to encourage people to think twice before using abusive and violent language, and to think positive thoughts before writing a response.

In a unique move, the most blatant and offensive responses will be censored and replaced with positive ones, with leading celebrities being publicly exposed and illustrating to millions of Israelis the great power words have - words that can hurt network influencers and celebrities with hundreds of thousands of followers.

Among the participants in the campaign:

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, editor and technology correspondent of Walla!

Yinon Ben-Shoshan, MK Miri Regev, MK Miki Zohar, MK Moshe Arbel, footballer Maor Buzaglo, Anna Zack, Rif Ne'eman, Aki Avni, Belle Agam, Karin Aliyah, Liel Eli, Judoka Peter Plach Yak, the publicist Israel Cohen, Omar Hazan and more.

The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of the consequences of cyberbullying and to encourage a unifying dialogue between social networks instead of offensive language and the easy hand on the keyboard. Some content creators will also appeal to younger audiences as teen stars will share with teens tips for maintaining online safety.

The campaign was born out of a commitment to preventing bullying and abusive and violent discourse on social media, and in light of the President's inaugural speech in which he said: "God forbid to degenerate into alienation between citizens and their country ... The first step to unity is to stop the fear. It is too common and too explosive and is fueled mainly by words."

"Words, which we all tend, at times, to take lightly. They mistakenly think that their effect passes with the end of a speech, writing a post, filtering a curse. They have enormous power, words. Power to create reality and change it, power to destroy, but also power to build. - A force that can ignite a fire, that can destroy an entire world of values. Then, as the poet Rabbi Shlomo Ibn Gvirol wrote, one of the spiritual gifts of Spanish Jewry:

"The discourse on the networks bothers me. The hand has become light on the keyboard and red lines are constantly being crossed on the digital network,"

said President Yitzhak Herzog

. I have set myself a central goal to moderate the abusive discourse and bullying on the net, which harms us as individuals and as a society, on a daily basis. I am happy to lead a very important project called "Think Well", which raises public awareness of the power of words on the net Encouraging to stop and think before pressing the keyboard. It is important for us to flood millions of followers with the difficulty of reading harsh responses, through the dealings of public figures and influencers from many fields. We must do everything we can, together, to change the network Good and write well. "

Meta CEO in Israel, Adi Sofer-Thani:

"I am excited to cooperate with the President and dozens of opinion leaders. The 'Think Well' project turns the spotlight on the most difficult moments on social media to spark a dialogue and make a clear statement against a phenomenon that has no place on our platforms. I thank all those who bravely agreed "Written for them, to lead such an important move against any bullying, abusive discourse and violent language on the web. We have an uncompromising commitment to providing a safe and positive experience for the billions of people who use our platforms."
