Patients infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus have up to a 70% lower risk of being hospitalized compared to the Delta variant, according to an analysis by the British health security agency published on Thursday.

According to this work, which is in line with two British studies published on Wednesday, patients infected with Omicron have between 50 and 70% less chances of being hospitalized.
The British agency is however very cautious due to the low number of patients hospitalized with Omicron.
The agency is also concerned about the speed of spread of the variant which could, in fact, increase the pressure on hospitals.
