"Look what a segment, we went and checked - there are no concentration camps in Austria, there just aren't." This is how political correspondent Yanir Kuzin opened his monologue on the Knesset channel. It is quite rare to see a journalist developed a report on things that do not. Equally he could tell that Santa Claus does not really exist, the tooth fairy does not really leave children cash under the pillow and Galit Distel Atbrian did not win the Sapphire Prize for Literature. Everything is true, but it's not really news either.

But in a world where truth has long since lost its relevance, the whole essence of journalism has changed. Instead of revealing the truth and chasing investigations and scoops, journalists are wasting their time exposing lies and waging a bitter war on pike. Sometimes it looks like battles in windmills, and sometimes it turns into a particularly silly sketch, one that even the "chamber quintet" would have been buzzing with unreliability.

This happened yesterday in the "Lunch Parliament" of the Knesset channel, when Gadi Yabarkan came to the studio and insisted that in Austria there are "concentration camps for those who are not resilient."

Political commentator Mazal Mualem still tried to help him get out of the pit he had dug for himself, but he insisted that in Austria "people come and take people out of the house" - and finally, as Punch Line, he asked Cousin and Muelem "Please, do not spread Pike News".

On social media, a fascinating discussion has begun on the question of whether Yabarkan is an idiot or just doing himself. "Here is news" journalist Akiva Novik analyzed in a tweet that went viral that "Gadi Yabarkan is not as dumb as he tries to look," but only trying to stand out within the Likud party, to which he defected before the last election. That's probably true. What an amazing political reality - in order to stand out in the big party in the Knesset, the one that had to form one of the heterogeneous coalitions in the history of democracy in order to deprive it of the throne, one must pretend to be a complete idiot. There is no need to act for the public, to do good with the voters or to enact laws - one should just pretend to lack minimal intelligence. To the glory of the State of Israel.

But it does not matter at all whether Gadi Yabarkan is weak-minded as he was portrayed yesterday in a variety of statements, or whether he was just pretending to be a full-fledged butler.

A person who "only" impersonates a Holocaust denier for all intents and purposes is no less enthralling foolish as someone who does it organically, out of pure human stupidity.

It is also important to note that just as Itamar Ben Gvir's behavior does not represent all the kippah wearers, and Benjamin Netanyahu's conduct does not attest to the character of all Ashkenazis - so one should not deduce from Yabarkan's outrageous remarks towards the Ethiopian community.

To say that "Gadi Yabarkan is a shame to the Ethiopian community" or to claim that "Ethiopians should be ashamed that Yabarkan represents them," as many did last night on social media, including journalists, is racism in its most naive form.

Hapoel Tel Aviv defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv yesterday in the municipal basketball derby.

As expected, the players from the winning team were happily interviewed by the media, while the players from the losing team gathered in the locker room and refused to leave.

Finally, out of the Yellows' locker room, actor Oz Blazer came out, and gave a brief interview to the sports channel.

"The only man!", Commented by commentator Gur Shlef at the end of the interview, about the fact that he went to be interviewed after a loss.

"Man!", Added veteran journalist Eli Sahar.

"A man not only in his game," Shelef stressed, "a man not only professionally."

It is amazing every time again to see that in 2021 the word "man" is still used as a compliment.

A basketball team that fights is a "bunch of men", while professional athletes who lost to a better team "played like hot cakes".

Achievement can be encouraged even without unnecessary sexism.

It's part of a sporting culture that is disappearing, almost like the amount of Hebrew speakers at a club that was formerly known as the "team of the country."
