Metro Motor, the largest two-wheeler importer in Israel, concludes 2021 and announces the plans and models expected for 2022 with one main hope, enough stock!

As every year, Metro Motor Company summarizes a year and opens a new civil business year.

Metro really does not need to be introduced, the leading two-wheeler importer in Israel for three decades, the importer, among others, of Sun Young brands (20 years leading the two-wheeler sales list by a wide margin), Yamaha and Kawasaki in the two-wheeler industry, but not for a long time only.

ATVs and SUVs and recreational vehicles (the mythological mule for example), vessels, and recently even entered the field of vehicle imports.

2021 - Well, as usual

The main problem of Metro, as well as of the other importers, comes down to one word - inventory.

Or rather, lack of inventory.

People want to buy but do not always have something to sell them, both because of the chip crisis, acute shortage of means of transport (ships and containers), the corona, zero interest and more created a situation of constant shortage and orders for a few months ahead.

Metro knows how to report sales losses in the past year of more than 500 vehicles, if only they had them in stock.

Metro for its part concludes (another) very good business year for it, in which it continues to increase sales and maintains its strength as the market leader in the two-wheeler field, alongside development in other sectors that we will immediately expand on.

In total, a little less than 21,000 two-wheeled vehicles were sold in Israel this year, with Metro controlling about half of the market (47%), a staggering and almost unprecedented figure.

At the top of the charts is of course the Sun Young scooter brand which sold almost 5,000 tools followed by Yamaha with close to 4,000 tools.

Out of 14,000 scooters sold in Israel this year, Metro sold more than 7,500 vehicles, and out of 6,900 motorcycles, in total, Metro sold about 2,200 vehicles.

2022 - 18 new models in two-wheelers

Metro Motor's expectations from the coming year are to continue to increase sales and market shares, along with entering new markets, refreshing old markets and penetrating new areas where the working assumption is that global problems in supply of tools and parts The second of the year 2023.

In the field of two-wheelers, Metro will launch 18 new models this year, the highlight of course being the Sun Young Joy Ride 300 and the new Yamaha Timex, which is expected to arrive in April.

More are expected to arrive from the Yamaha MT10, MT10SP and XSR900 models as well as the Tricity 125/155 and Yamaha R7.

In Kawasaki, the Horsis 650 will face the tough competition in the middle-volume adventure-tournament category.

More from the green giant will come the SE Z900 and the H2 SX SE version, which is considered the manufacturer's flagship thanks to the 200 horsepower that will be produced from the engine and the variety of electronic and sophisticated systems.

The tool in question is expected to arrive towards the end of the first quarter of the second or the beginning of the second quarter.

Also in the field of two-wheelers, the marketing of electric motorcycles made by Zero will continue and in the field they have received a new-old name, the Fantic, which today is actually the Yamaha WR marketed in Europe under the name Fantic.

2022 - New departments, divisions and halls

Metro Motor continues to grow and increase its power and position in the local market and alongside the two-wheeled field it is also entering the field of car imports with the prestigious Karma brand and a new car brand that has not yet been unveiled and will join later this year.

Metro has launched a new division called Metro Electric (ME) that will bring together under its wings the entire electric theme of the group, including cars, the Zero motorcycle brand, and the trendy scooter brand Maiwan Gogoro that beyond its spectacular design, is based on the concept of battery replacement instead of charging them.

The gogoro is considered a hit, especially among young people and is known in the East, the iPhone of scooters.

Along with the opening of a new hall in Jerusalem, a large motor park is planned to be built in Haifa that will contain all the company's brands, from cars, through SUVs, to boats, scooters, motorcycles and even scooters.

The flagship hall on Tushia Street in Tel Aviv will undergo a massive renovation costing millions of shekels and will contain about 1,000 square meters of display.

Metro Marin, the maritime department established last year, will continue to operate and grow. And the ski made by Supra.
