The mediation process failed - the artists sought to remove their works from the Ramat Gan Museum
The mediation process between the artists exhibiting at the Ramat Gan Museum and Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen failed - and David Rib's work "Jerusalem" will not be returned to the museum.
The Ramat Gan municipality stated that the artists' works will be removed in the next day, "will be packaged and given back to the artists in a dignified manner."

The mediation process between the artists exhibiting at the Ramat Gan Museum and Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen failed - and David Rib's work "Jerusalem" will not be returned to the museum.
As part of the mediation process conducted by mediator Dr. Yigal Ben Shalom, the parties tried to reach a compromise after the court ruled that it would not interfere with the board's decision to remove Riv's work.

The principle that guided our proposals was that David Reeve's work would be returned to display with adjustments.

Earlier this month, even before a bridge was appointed, 43 female artists out of 50 exhibitors at the museum sent a letter to the museum demanding that their works be removed immediately - following the storm of the removal of David Rib's work "Jerusalem" from the Ramat Gan Museum of Art.
The letter, sent to the museum's board chairman Roy Barzilai and chief curator Svetlana Reingold, reads: And sensitive to the public.We are sorry that this step was not adopted by the Mayor and the Board of Directors.The strength and independence of the museum reflect the strength of our society and culture.We, and with us a long list of artists, museums, galleries, art institutions, curators, plastic artists association "We are sorry that political intervention caused damage to the renovated museum and its professional status in Israel and around the world. In the name of freedom of expression and our professional integrity, we demand the immediate removal of our works from the exhibition.
The letter was sent after the petition of David Riv and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel against the Ramat Gan Museum, the mayor of Ramat Gan Carmel Shama HaCohen and the municipality of Ramat Gan was rejected. In the petition, they demanded that the mayor be instructed to inform the Ramat Gan Museum that there is no impediment to presenting Riv's work "Jerusalem." The judge dismissed the petition.
In David Riv's work that caused the storm, an ultra-Orthodox man is seen praying at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and next to it are the captions "Jerusalem of gold" and "Jerusalem of shit."
After the reopening of the Ramat Gan Museum with an exhibition that includes the work, the mayor of Ramat Gan Carmel Shama Hacohen noticed it and claimed that the work has a border crossing from legitimate criticism of blasphemy against Jerusalem and the Western Wall and racism against the ultra-Orthodox.
Following his request, the work was removed.
After its removal, about 40 artists covered most of the works in the museum as a protest in black cloth.
Later, Carmel Mayor Shama HaCohen arrived at the museum and ordered the museum staff to remove the fabrics immediately.
Museum staff did so, in a confrontation with the artists.
