After more than two weeks of hiatus, the trial of the attacks of November 13 was able to resume on Tuesday, with the start of questioning of the accused.

The hearings, which should have resumed on January 4, then on January 6, had been suspended due to the state of health of Salah Abdeslam, who contracted Covid-19 in prison at the end of December.

A medical second opinion, the conclusions of which were read this Tuesday at the start of the hearing by the president of the Special Assize Court, Jean-Louis Périès, indicated that Salah Abdeslam had been "cured" since January 3, although 'still positive, and could attend the hearings because "not contagious".

He was thus present in the box on Tuesday, while he had not attended the hearings since November 25.

Abdeslam's interrogation scheduled for January 20 and 21

On the other hand, another accused, Osama Krayem, refused to appear.

Through the voice of his lawyer Margaux Durand-Poincloux, he said Thursday that he "made the decision not to (speak) until the end of the debates".

"Nobody is looking for the truth, nobody is here to understand (...) We are all pretending, this trial is an illusion", added the one whose questioning is scheduled for next week.

This Tuesday, the first accused to be questioned is Mohamed Abrini, 37, a childhood friend of Salah Abdeslam, tried in particular for having accompanied the jihadist commando in the Paris region the day before the attacks.

The interrogation of Salah Abdeslam is scheduled for January 20 and 21.

During this first phase of questioning, the accused should only be questioned on the facts going up to the summer of 2015.
