The mysterious driver of a Porsche with a German license plate had accumulated thousands of euros in fines for no parking, stopped in the past few hours by the Local Police of La Spezia. The car was registered in the name of a car rental company based in Germany, to which the penalties for collection were systematically forwarded, with a considerable increase in costs and the foreseeable difficulties in reaching final collection. She was then reported by the command's minutes office to the agents on external duty, who finally managed to identify the hirer two days. The transgressor was reached just as he got into the car, parked on this occasion too, by a patrol that was waiting for him on the spot.
He is an Italian citizen legally resident on the national territory, turned out to be the tenant of the vehicle.
This entailed, in addition to the sanction for the 'daily' ban, that he was also notified of all arrears, for a total amount of several thousand euros.
The law provides, reminds the La Spezia Local Police, that a resident in Italy for more than sixty days cannot drive vehicles registered abroad.
However, the citizen in question had taken advantage of one of the few exceptions provided for by the law, namely that of hiring a foreign vehicle in the name of a company that has no branch in Italy.
