For one magical evening, Gidi Gov will become the singer of the revolution. The Revolution Orchestra, one of the coolest, most interesting and creative ensembles currently operating in Israel under the artistic direction of Roi Oppenheim and Zohar Sharon, embarks on a new journey with the legendary Gov, in a one-time performance tomorrow (Thursday, January 12) as part of the Israeli Opera Revolution series. In a direct show Gov in new and original arrangements created especially for a show of hits from his solo career in new and original arrangements written especially for this show. As in other performances of the Revolution Orchestra, this time too, video screenings with live orchestral music will be combined, and new works will also be performed. Oppenheim also signed on to conduct, and Sharon also signed on as one of the arranger and composers alongside Avner Kalmer, Oren Locke and Amir Lekner.

"I heard about the Revolution Orchestra about four years ago," Gidi Gov says in an interview with Walla! culture. "There was an old cartoon festival that the Revolutionary Orchestra wrote music for. I went to see it and slowly it started to become a thing. Then two years ago we met, and we talked about doing something together. But we were innocent. "For months we came back to ourselves, and said let's do it. It's a great magic. It's a kind of band, an orchestra, that does other things, we call it that. They also sing, they also play. It's something new for me. It's a huge pleasure."

One of the most intriguing works will be a new adaptation of "Let It Grow Quietly" ("Peas and Carrots"), which combines an original work by composer Amir Lekner (with whom Gov also works in "This Is It") with videos from the program "The Wonderful Journey of Aharoni and Gidi".

"Gidi is a musician even when he eats," Lekner tells Walla!

Culture, and means that even in the voices, criticisms and intonations that Gov makes in his chewing, both when he tastes good and when he is disgusting, there is a lot of music.

"My adventures with Aharoni are immortalized here in music. It's wonderful to look back a few years, it's beautifully arranged. The connection between music and food comes out wonderful. Really wonderful."

"Over the years we make connections with artists we think their musical material is beloved but can be kneaded in a new way, in order to hear the lyrics and melodies in new possibilities," says Roy Oppenheim, conductor and one of the musical directors of the Revolution Orchestra. "Gidi's stuff is just part of our DNA."

Zohar Sharon, his partner in managing the orchestra, reveals what other innovations the show will offer tomorrow. "We really like to use archival material to bring a new look to something we all know, to something that is part of our canon. So rich.

"There is one song that actually combines two songs. In 1976, Gidi recorded 'Singer for a Ship' on Israeli television, composed by David Zehavi with lyrics by Haim Hefer, and in the album 'There is no more day' he has a wonderful song called 'Still waiting for you', and he saw it as a miracle This song was also written by Haim Hefer, both songs of longing and love, and we actually connected these two songs, so what happens is that Gidi sings 'Still Waiting for You' on stage, and Gidi from 1976 appears and sings the songs of 'Singer to the Ship' "And these two songs mix with each other."

Who is your favorite Gidi character in particular?

Sharon: "As a kid, I used to watch 'This Is It' a lot, and I remember really liking his character as Sherlock Holmes. And all the moments where he's called 'Losing It.' The food also happened to him in "This is It" with some characters. "

Oppenheim: "For me it's not a character but Gidi himself, from 'Gidi Gov goes to eat' that was on Channel 8 to Gidi and Aharoni together, you see his enthusiasm and the interaction with everything, even when he was on 'Night Gov', it's the same pretty- NA is also a singer, an actor, a comedian and a presenter. What interesting dilemma or dilemma did you have while working?

Sharon: "When you start working with an artist, and we've had different experiences like this in the past, there are artists who really want to keep their original text. And there are singers or composers who come to you and say, 'Let's go wild.' And after we played the first sketches to Gidi, to our great joy he sent us to do homework, and said 'Guys, let's go far', we will take this opportunity, which is exactly what we like to do. "

Oppenheim: "Unfortunately it's a one-off, and it happens in a psychedelic and uncertain period. People in isolation and call me if there will be more shows, but unfortunately it's a one-time event. The show has been delayed because of the corona and even now The vehicle is really big. "

Gov: "It's really great fun, I just enjoy it. Video is video, and music is music, it's invested. The Revolution Orchestra are people who really like what they do. There's some dedication, precision, something else. I don't usually perform with A big orchestra and that's really something wonderful. "

Gidi, Yoram Taharlev, one of the Israeli composers' grants, passed away over the weekend, with whom, among other things, he wrote the hit "Ya'ala VeYuv" with which you first broke out in 1973 at the Singing and Choral Festival.

"I saw Yoram Taharlev being interviewed a few years ago, in his adulthood after no longer writing songs, and he said: 'Who will remember me, maybe there will be one song left.' There are a hundred left. He's really part of our upbringing here in the country. He really wrote a lot of songs. He was not considered to have written only homeland songs or just love songs or just nature songs. Suddenly I noticed that he has dozens if not hundreds of songs that we all grew up on.

" I was hysterical. Benny Negri told me 'Come and attend the Singing Festival'. I was in the hive before. I told him, okay. I heard the song. I do not think I met then with Taharlev, and sang it. I was very, very hysterical. "

Do you have a desire to record more new original music?

"Sure. Songs are being cooked and recorded and postponed because of the corona. Obviously I don't produce songs like I was in my twenties and I don't fly but every now and then something comes up, I record and it's great fun."

Gidi, you are loved not only by the Revolutionary Orchestra but probably also by the Revolutionary Guards. As we published in Walla! Two weeks ago, a sketch of "This is it" mocking Defense Minister Ganz and the army who do not know where Iranian nuclear sites were translated into Persian and became a hit in Iran and Hezbollah. Surprised you?

"We are a lager in Iran. First of all, joining a large nation like the Iranians, it is magic in my eyes. They are 80 million. And speaking of food, they have not bad food. Ushpalo, all kinds of things like that. In fact it is Bukhari. "Listen, who could have asked for more?"

It seems that lately, you in "This Is It" are more biting and kicking politically than in the past.

"We are constantly looking for fun. For example, someone who drives someone crazy with a washing machine. Politics in my opinion is less fascinating. It's a bit predictable. You get down on this and that. But if cases suddenly arise ... "That you're wondering about him or that there really is the whole 'no, we are killing the Iranians' thing."

The actors' organization Shaham issued a letter to the government a few days ago, in which he said, among other things: "The Israeli government is abandoning artists. "Contrary to what we expected from the change government and compared to the compensation given in the previous government - the opacity, disregard and rigidity of this government screams to heaven."

"I have no idea about this announcement, but many performances have been canceled. The situation is not clear and unequivocal. I think anyone who has been harmed, in a proven, matter-of-fact manner, who had a show and has no show tomorrow, should help him, the government should. But it is not just The players. This is all that has stopped and stopped in this country, of course the country needs to help. I think the country right now in terms of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance and Bennett, are like the world - a little do not know what this virus wants. Areas that have been stopped. "I'm sorry I did not put money on markers. Who knew it was going to be such a lager? I had to sell my house and buy a billion markers. Same with these tests."

Have you had a fourth vaccine yet?

"Yeah. I think my body is bombed. I don't know what it does but four shots of anything is that much.
