It's a new winter drama, the same day as an accident that claimed the lives of four high school students in the Jura.
A 14-year-old boy died on Wednesday after falling into the Poisy pond, near Annecy (Haute-Savoie).
The victim and another teenager of the same age ventured into the body of water, the surface of which was frozen.
But the ice gave way.
"They fell into the water, one of them managed to get out and the other not," said the Codis (fire and rescue operational center) of Haute-Savoie.
A precedent in 2015
The young boy "was taken out of the water in cardiorespiratory arrest", indicates the same source.
He was taken care of by the firefighters in a state of absolute emergency and taken to Annecy hospital where he died, specifies France Bleu.
His companion, in slight hypothermia at the time of his treatment, is "shocked" but was not injured, said Codis.
“The two young people were already well advanced on the swamp when the tragedy occurred.
The ice is always stronger at the edge than in the middle, ”commented the deputy prosecutor of the Republic, Pierre Filliard, whose remarks were taken up by the Dauphiné Libéré.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances in which the tragedy took place.
As the Actu.fr site recalls, Haute-Savoie experienced a tragedy in similar circumstances in February 2015. Two teenagers aged 14 and 15 had fallen into a body of water after the ice broke under the weight the first, then the second, who was trying to come to the aid of his comrade.
