After a seven-year break, BMW is advertising as part of the Super Bowl in Los Angeles - as the only German manufacturer.

Los Angeles/Munich – On the night of February 13th to 14th, one of the biggest sporting events of all will take place at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles: the Super Bowl of the National Football League (NFL).

Hundreds of millions of people around the world are watching the Vince Lombardy Trophy game.

In the US alone, 100 million people tune in to the Super Bowl.

But not only the game attracts the crowds in front of the television, but also the halftime show and the - often particularly funny - commercials.

The companies' interest in being able to advertise themselves during the Super Bowl is correspondingly high.

In 2021, numerous car manufacturers were also represented with their own commercial.

And also this year one or the other manufacturer will be part of the Super Bowl in Los Angeles, as reported by 24auto.de.

Nissan, Toyota, GM, Kia have already announced commercials.

And a manufacturer from Germany will also be represented during the half-time break.

After six years of abstinence, BMW will be the only German carmaker to advertise itself this year.

A US spokesman for BMW confirmed plans to Automotive News, but did not go into further detail.

This leaves open what the Bavarian manufacturer will advertise and which agency is behind the spot.

BMW advertises at the Super Bowl: is it about electric cars again?

However, it stands to reason that electromobility could play a role. Back in 2015, BMW tried its hand at its Super Bowl commercial for the i3. The spot centered on the famous Today Show clip from 1994, in which Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel wonder what the Internet actually is. 21 years later, the two then occupied the question: What is the i3? For this year's commercial, BMW could bet on the i4 or the iX.

But the Concept XM, which has been the subject of heated debate on the internet, could also be considered.

And BMW's prototype comeback in the American sports car championship IMSA would also be an option.

The answer to this question will be available at the Super Bowl at the latest, but possibly earlier if BMW puts the commercial online beforehand.
