"The challenge is to find ways to convert waste into basic materials and other useful things, such as propellants or raw materials for 3D printing," the website said.
"We are looking for ideas on how to convert different waste streams into propellants, and useful materials, which can be turned into necessary things. Ideal solutions will help reduce waste waste."
The winners of the competition will receive cash prizes of up to $ 1,000, with a total prize budget of $ 24,000.
You can register for the competition until March 15, and anyone over the age of 18 can register alone or as part of a team.
NASA is expected to announce the winner by April 22.
The winning ideas are expected to be included in a document that forms "part of the roadmap for future technology development work" for NASA's logistics reduction project. Hope to send the astronauts to the moon by 2025. Moon missions may help plan Mars' future missions.
