After the design of the Fox Mia 2.0 electric van has been finalized, the first prototypes should be on the road.

Unfortunately, the market launch is still far away.

Munich - Building an electric vehicle is a complex project - a whole series of start-ups have had to realize this in recent years.

And those who have been waiting for the cute Mia 2.0 microvan from Fox E-Mobility will have to wait another two years before the first models go into customer hands.

After the design of the two versions as a small electric car and delivery van was confirmed, the first real test vehicles will finally be on the road this year.

In particular, the skateboard, which is the technical platform for the second generation Mia, is to be put through its paces, as reported by 24auto.de.

In addition to the normal version with an electric rear axle, the platform also offers the option of installing a second motor with an output of 30 kW / 45 hp on the front axle, making the Mia a real all-wheel drive vehicle.

Fox Mia 2.0: Two versions are intended to attract private and commercial customers

Mia has a turbulent history, because the first attempt with an electric city van ten years ago flopped.

After the Munich-based company Fox E-Mobility took over, the project is now entering its final phase.

The Mia 2.0 is a neat-looking microvan with short overhangs, a long wheelbase and two sliding doors.

As a one- to three-seater, it is intended to attract private and commercial customers not only with its electric drive, but also with its efficient use of space.

At the front there is only a single seat for the driver with a control station, behind it there is room for two or three more occupants, while entry and exit is via two sliding doors, as in the first attempt at the Mia mobile.

In addition to the pure car variant, the focus is now on commercial use,

which should be of particular interest for delivery services.

Unsurprisingly, however, that the upcoming second generation Mia with a starting price well below 20,000 euros can be updated online at any time.

The skateboard itself consists of a crash-proof steel structure.

Depending on the model and customer requirements, the track width, wheelbase and ground clearance are flexible – but what they all have in common is the central seating position of the driver.

This is intended to reduce both development and production costs.

Other reasons for the desired cost efficiency are the simple production option in variable quantities, a cost-effective repair strategy and the integration options for standard parts.

The platform allows different derivatives of the Mia product family, each weighing around 1,000 kilograms, such as shorter or longer models for three or four passengers or small delivery vans for urban centers with a volume of 1,500 liters.
