He climbs everywhere and now he also does it silently and respecting the environment.

Jeep Wrangler 4xe opens a new frontier for off-road and confirms all the skills of an unstoppable 'explorer' by adding an extra element, the silence of the electric motor.

The hybrid powertrain of the Wrangler 4xe combines a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol with two electric units, a 17 kWh (400 Volt) high-voltage battery pack and an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.

The Wrangler 4xe is the most advanced engine ever developed for a Jeep and delivers 380 Hp that allows you to sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.4 seconds and has a torque of 637 Nm. After having electrified Compass and Renegade, Jeep has also put the plug on the Wrangler, the off-road vehicle par excellence that was the subject of our test in the Rubicon version for a few days both in the streets of Rome as well as in some dirt roads in the Viterbo countryside.

The dimensions do not make it easy to move around the city (it is 488cm long, 189cm wide and 190cm high) but all in all it wasn't that difficult to struggle in city traffic where we were able to try the full electric drive.

Yes, because the Wrangler 4xe has a range of about 50km in fully electric mode which is more than enough for everyday use in the city.

The ideal environment of this off-road vehicle, however, are the dirt or mountain roads where the Jeep Wrangler gives its best thanks to the 380hp that allow it to climb almost anywhere.

On the Rubicon 4xe version the attack angle is 36.6 degrees, the back angle is 21.4 degrees, and the exit angle is 31.8 degrees;

the height from the ground is 25.3 cm.

The wading capacity of 76 cm is remarkable.

The torque delivered by the electric motors of the Wrangler 4xe can be used instantly by the driver to maximize performance.

Thanks to 4xe technology,

the new Wrangler plug-in hybrid can travel with four-wheel drive in 100% electric mode;

all this while maintaining the 'Trail Rated' technical equipment of the Wrangler which, depending on the set-ups, includes two Selec-Trac or Rock-Trac four-wheel drive systems, next-generation Dana axles, electric locks of the Tru-Lock front and rear differentials, Trac-Lok limited slip differential and electrically disconnect front stabilizer bar.

The times for the complete recharge of the batteries are less than 3 hours at 7.4 kWh and, thanks to the Max Regen function, it is also possible to increase the battery charge when proceeding in soaring mode.

Jeep Wrangler 4xe allows you to customize hybrid powertrain operation with the E Selec system with 3 positions.

    In the Electric one, priority is given to the operation of the electric vehicle until the battery reaches its minimum charge.

Finally, with the eSave position the system gives priority to propulsion from the engine, saving battery power for later use.

    All Jeep Wrangler 4xe models are equipped with sophisticated full time active on demand four-wheel drive systems: the one called Selec-Trac is present on the Sahara 4xe version while the Rock-Trac system equips the Rubicon 4xe model, the most extreme in off-road driving. road.

Both have four driving modes (plus Neutral mode): 2H (High - two-wheel drive), 4H AUTO (High - four-wheel drive Full-Time Active On-Demand), 4H Part-Time (High - four-wheel drive) Part-Time drive wheels), 4L (four-wheel drive with reduced gears).

In four-wheel drive driving with reduced gears (4L), the 4xe system allows you to enter all the electrified driving modes (Hybrid, Electric and E-Save).

    Inside, all versions feature the new TFT instrument panel with 7 "color screen and the 8.4" touchscreen of the Uconnect NAV system and specific screens for controlling electrified driving.

To always have under control the charging status of the batteries, the LED charging status indicator stands out at the top center of the dashboard, while the E-Selec buttons of the three electrified driving modes are always housed on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. .

The standard equipment includes the 8.4 "Uconnect Nav system with touchscreen, complete connectivity thanks to smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the presence of Uconnect Services,

    On the safety front, the new Wrangler 4xe features the most advanced ADAS systems available: the standard equipment includes Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, rear view camera, electronic stability control (ESC) with ERM (Electronic Roll Mitigation), front and rear park assist and Keyless Enter 'N Go system. Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning Plus and a new front camera (standard on the Rubicon version) are available on request.

    Prices for the Wrangler 4xe start at 74800 euros for the Sahara version.
