They will explain themselves to the court, after having clashed with the legislative elections in 2017… An investigating judge from Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) requested the referral to a criminal court of Dieudonné for defamation, after the broadcast of a video in which he accuses former Prime Minister Manuel Valls of sexual assault, according to his order consulted Monday by AFP.
The order, dated Friday, does not indicate the date of the trial of the controversial comedian, now 56 years old.
The video in question was broadcast on October 22, 2020 on Dieudonné Mbala Mbala's website and public Telegram account, according to the order, which specifies that a rogatory commission made it possible to confirm that he was "well the author remarks ".
In this video, now unavailable online, Dieudonné said he was "aware" of a complaint filed by a "young girl" against Manuel Valls, presented as an "aggressor of good women".
“Complaint filed against Manu,” he assured.
Already condemned
Manuel Valls had filed a complaint on November 3, 2020. "We are delighted that Mr. Mbala Mbala will soon respond to the court for his grossly defamatory remarks towards Manuel Valls", reacted Monday to AFP the latter's counsel, Mr. Thibault deMontbrial.
For his part, Me Jacques Verdier, Dieudonné's lawyer, did not wish to comment.
Dieudonné has been convicted in France on numerous occasions for racial slurs or incitement to hatred.
