This windshield fitter and car trafficker remains in prison.

This is the decision taken last Friday by the Chamber of Investigation of Versailles (Yvelines).

This young entrepreneur, aged 20, was indicted last January in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise), along with two other accomplices for concealment in an organized gang.

They are suspected of having, since the beginning of the year throughout the Paris region, participated in the trafficking of stolen cars intended for export to Africa.

This story begins on January 18 when the police spot, thanks to the geolocation system, a Toyota stolen in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) a few days earlier in a street in Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val- of Oise).

The officials hide in the area and see a heavy truck towing a container arrive.

The driver is arrested as he prepares to board the car.

The police locate and arrest three other suspects nearby in a Renault Clio.

By crossing, complaints for theft and telephony, the investigators discover that this team would have stolen two other Toyotas and a 3008 Peugeot.

The suspects are taken into custody at the police station.

The driver works for a transport company which was commissioned by the brother of one of the suspects to take this container to a port where it was to be embarked on a boat leaving for West Africa.

The driver of the truck explains that he was only doing his job before being released.

During the hearings, two of the suspects smash their mobiles and destroy any evidence these devices might contain.

But the police have still recovered videos immortalizing cars climbing into a container.

Asked by investigators about his participation in the theft of a Peugeot 3008 in Tremblay-en-France, Demba maintains that he had gone to eat at McDonald's.

Forced to steal for a man nicknamed "Croco"

This young man is from Bobigny where he still lives with his mother.

He has just set up a windshield replacement company in his town, which earns him around 1,200 euros per month.

His criminal record is clean but he is known for acts committed when he was a teenager.

During the hearings, Demba specifies that he agreed to enter into this story because the organizer of this network, a certain "Croco", would have strongly encouraged him to do so.

The young man would owe a debt after having accidented a vehicle with one of his friends.

This famous "Croco" would have asked them to work for him to repay him.

"I don't know where I am anymore.

I owed money and I had to.

But I work, I have my company.

This story blocks my whole life.

They cut off my legs, ”breathes this young man.

The three suspects were indicted before being imprisoned.

The rest of the investigations should make it possible to understand whether other shipments of containers have been made and to identify and arrest "Croco" and his accomplices.
