You are all familiar with the old-fashioned debate "What preceded what - the egg or the chicken?" Participants who choose a side and try to prove their righteousness.
The question is simple: Do you think there are more doors or wheels in the world?
In a tweet posted on Twitter earlier this month, New Zealand Rugby League manager Ryan Nixon (@NewYorkNixon) told his and his friends there was a silly debate on this question.
He shared a survey that would help him reach a consensus.
Auckland resident Ryan did not imagine that more than 223,000 people would vote in his poll and that his question would also reach Tiktok, where the tags #DoorsVsWheels and #WheesVsDoors together would garner more than 380 million views.

Nixon believes the debate has gone viral as there is no definitive data proving which of the parties is right.
"If you've having an argument with friends, it's awfully simple to go into Google and see who's right, but in this case we have no answer," he told the Guardian, "it will take an eternity to try to resolve it."
The group of doors
Those who have chosen doors claim that there are doors in every home, in every building and in every vehicle - so this is quite a large amount.
They also claim that everything with wheels also has doors, apart from bicycles.
Writer and journalist David Banks tweeted: "Anyone who owns something with wheels lives in a building whose number of doors exceeds its wheels. For example, I have 10 wheels (2 cars and bicycles) but 28 doors."
"Doors. Cars and trucks with 4 doors cancel themselves. All ships have doors, no wheels. All buildings have doors, no wheels."
"My household has 29 doors (including the fridge, cabinets, washing machine, tumble dryer and car). I have 4 wheels in the car and my hamster has a wheel. Can't think of any more wheels. I say doors."
One who pointed doors remembered this conveyor belt, but in response received a reminder to lockers:

On the other side of the debate you will find those who believe that the number of wheels in the world exceeds the number of doors.
Many mentioned various objects that have wheels but no doors, like toy cars.
"All cars have 4 wheels but 2-4 doors. An average house may have 6-10 doors, but it also has at least 3 suitcases with 6-12 wheels. A collection of toy cars may have 400 wheels."

The last tweet certainly raised the issue: what is actually considered a wheel and what is defined as a door?
According to Oxford Languages a wheel is "a circular device that rotates like a cart: a steering wheel in a car, wheels in clocks and engines" and a door is "a wheel that rotates on hinges that closes and opens the opening".

Ticket user scarlettmay04 was unable to get an answer and wrote in the video: "It changes. Now I think there are more doors than wheels. Cars usually have 4 wheels and 4 doors so they cancel each other out. There are also skyscrapers with thousands of doors, but there are They also have tons of office chairs with wheels ... ".
GoPro has taken a stand, pointing out that the company has sold 50 million cameras, all equipped with tiny "doors"

UPS has joined the debate by summing up the total number of wheels and doors in its fleet, with more than 120,000 vehicles.

Hank Green, known as the network's voice of wisdom and science, sided with the wheel set, noting that the wheels in his children's toy cars were functional, while the doors were not.

In general, there seem to be more ticking users in the wheels group than in the doors group.
The #teamdoors and #teamdoor tags have 48.4 million and 35.9 million views respectively, compared to the #teamwheels and #teamwheel tags, which have 109 million and 17.6 million views respectively.
Nixon, whose tweet ignited the debate, added that each side’s desire to prove its righteousness inspires it even more.
"The beauty is that people can choose a side and argue for or against," Nixon told the Guardian, "and there are people who do it quite aggressively."
If we go back for a moment to his survey, the result is quite close: the wheels received 53.6% of the votes while the Doors settled for 46.4% of the votes.
That is, in both Tiktok and Twitter the leading answer to victory is wheels.
