The joy of his Ferrari was extremely short-lived - after only about three kilometers, a driver crashed the 488 GTB he had just bought.

Derby (Great Britain) – Extreme fuel prices or not: Super sports cars are currently selling like hotcakes.

Many well-heeled people apparently see it as a profitable investment at the moment.

And so, for example, the Bugatti Chiron is now just as sold out as the Gordon Murray T.33 - and that despite the exorbitant prices for these bullets.

In Great Britain, someone has now treated themselves to a Ferrari - but the joy of it was short-lived, as reported by 24auto.de.

There's no question about it: accidental damage to a car is always annoying.

But if you wreck your newly purchased vehicle just three kilometers after leaving the dealer's yard, then that has a particularly bitter note - and according to the police, that's exactly what happened to a Ferrari buyer in Derby.

The good news is that no one was injured in the crash, according to officials.

Ferrari 488 GTB crashed – new price of more than 200,000 euros

The Ferrari 488 GTB was built from 2015 to 2019.

Its V8 installed in the mid-engine position delivers 492 kW (670 hp), the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h ticks off the rear-wheel drive Italian car in just three seconds.

The Ferrari 488 GTB cost well over 200,000 euros new - and even as a used car, the floor is usually not available for less than this amount today.

This year, a number of Ferraris have been badly hit by accidents: in the Netherlands, a mechanic spectacularly crashed a Ferrari Enzo, in Japan, a Ferrari F12tdf crashed into a wall and in Switzerland, a driver crashed his Ferrari 458 Speciale into a tree.

Ferrari 488 GTB crashed - repair could be expensive

It is not known exactly how the accident happened in Great Britain – but the police report indicates that no other vehicles were involved.

Based on the damage to the vehicle and the damaged guard rail, which can be seen in a photo, it can be assumed that the front of the Ferrari thundered against that boundary.

The damage to the Italian car looks as if it can be repaired - but a hefty sum should be due for it.

The bonnet of the 488 GTB is dented, the entire front is scratched, and some fractures can also be seen.

Neither headlight survived the impact.

Driver crashes Ferrari 488 GTB after just three kilometers – “You can’t buy talent”

Because the accident happened on April 1st – and some users apparently couldn't believe that the incident had actually happened that way, the police reported again shortly after their Twitter post and said: "No April Fool's joke".

A user replied: "But it's still funny." Numerous comments have accumulated under the police tweet - most of them amused by the alleged lack of driving talent of the Ferrari driver:

  • "You can't buy talent."

  • "I always say: if you don't know how to drive a vehicle, then don't buy it."

  • "Too much money, not enough brains."

  • "The guy should have practiced on a racetrack first to get the hang of it."

  • "I'm sure if he can afford a Ferrari, he can afford the repair bill."
