The Dacia Spring is one of the most popular electric cars in Germany.

Now the price hit can no longer be ordered - for these reasons.

Brühl (North Rhine-Westphalia) – Purchasing an electric car is still an expensive affair.

Even if the environmental bonus of up to 9,570 euros mitigates the high price, many interested parties shy away from purchasing a Stromer for financial reasons.

Of course there are also a few inexpensive cordless mobiles, but they are few and far between.

The extremely popular VW e-Up was already sold out, the new edition has become almost 5,000 euros more expensive and now costs at least 26,895 euros.

The Dacia Spring is an even better offer, as it is more modern, larger and even cheaper.

The price in Germany starts at 20,940 euros, so minus the premium you could get it from 11,370 euros so far - although the suspicion arose that the parent company Renault had partially added the subsidies in this country to the price and the Romanian family car would have been even cheaper have to.

Ultimately, however, it is not the production costs that determine the price of a product, but demand alone (which is why many car manufacturers are currently able to turn the price screw and make substantial profits).

Seen in this way, Dacia has done everything right with the Spring: it is one of the most popular electric cars in Germany (despite its unconvincing performance in the crash test).

And is now even sold out or currently not available for order, as reported by 24auto.de.

Dacia Spring no longer available – acceptance of purchase requests suspended

"At Dacia Spring, we unfortunately feel compelled to temporarily and with immediate effect suspend the acceptance of purchase applications for vehicles newly ordered into production," said Thilo Schmidt, Managing Director of Dacia Germany, to "Bild".

So the Romanians cannot produce as many of the Stromer as the customers would like.

Dacia Spring is no longer available – lack of chips and the Ukraine war are slowing down the car industry

On the one hand, this is of course due to the current high demand for electric cars: the environmental bonus and the still high fuel prices are continuing to ensure a boom here.

On the other hand, the chip crisis and the lack of parts due to the Ukraine war are slowing down production.

After all, Dacia speaks explicitly of "temporarily".

Prospective buyers who have not yet had a chance can therefore hope for a future reintroduction – but then they must also reckon with the usual long delivery times for new cars.
