Autobahn A4: Unknown blows up speed cameras

An unknown person blew up a speed camera trailer on the A4 motorway.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Overrath – Speed cameras are not very popular with motorists.
After all, such a photo can be very expensive and, in the worst case, even result in a driving ban.
The reactions of drivers are correspondingly drastic.
In Saxony, a driver let a mobile speed trap go with him.
An unknown went even further and blew up a speed camera trailer, as reported by 24auto.de.
The mobile speed camera was on the A4 motorway near the Untereschbach junction.
"The force of the explosion threw the trailer several meters away," says a press release from the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis police force.

The explosion was reported by a witness who discovered the damaged speed camera trailer on the A4 motorway near Overrath after almost "running over large pieces of fragments".
However, it is unclear how the stranger blew up the mobile speed trap.
The speed camera trailer flew several meters after the explosion.

The damaged speed camera trailer was secured by the police for the ongoing investigation, and damage was in the five-digit range.
The search for the unknown perpetrator is ongoing.
A criminal complaint was also filed.

Another example shows that brute force is not always necessary.
In Hürtgenwald in the district of Düren, a stranger gave free rein to his creativity and quickly decorated a speed camera trailer as a "Christmas sleigh".
Two speed camera pillars were also decorated for Christmas.
It is often argued that stationary radar devices are used for safety, but a study by the Dutch company TomTom suggests that this is not the case.
What is certain, however, is that the speed cameras bring in good money for the cities and communities.
