Toyota pleases its most "purist" customers and makes a manual gearbox version for the GR Supra by popular demand.

The iMT 6-speed manual gearbox version, specially made to equip the 3-liter straight-six version of the coupé, will arrive in European dealerships next summer.

    A complex job for the engineers of the Japanese company, who for the new gearbox necessarily had to modify the housing and the transmission shaft, the existing gear group and remove unnecessary elements as part of the soundproofing.

From a technical point of view, the iMT gearbox uses an intelligent electronic control system that works thanks to software that prioritizes performance: when you shift up, the parameters are calibrated to optimize the engine torque at the time of engagement and clutch release;

in upshifting, the software has been set up for consistent performance.

The iMT has been set as "default" by the House, but if necessary, it can be deactivated manually in Sport mode.

    To date, we recall, the GR Supra has been equipped exclusively with the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, both in the version with the 340 Hp 3-liter six-cylinder and in the smaller 258 Hp 2-liter four-cylinder.

For the GR Supra range there is also a special edition: "Lightweight" equipped with the 3-liter 6-cylinder engine and manual gearbox.

Technical modifications that sublimate the embodiment of the Gazoo Racing spirit and realize the dream of President Akio Toyoda in a car even more pleasant to drive.
