According to a report by Mark Gorman at Bloomberg News, Apple may part with the charging connector Lightning and replace it with the more common USB-C, starting in 2023. The move may help the technology giant comply with European legislation that will force all manufacturers to switch to -USB-C.
The Bloomberg report comes after a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who tweeted a similar post over the weekend, saying it will happen starting in the second half of 2023 - when the iPhone 15 series will be launched. Continue to use all accessories with the Lightning connection.

Apparently, one of the catalysts is a bill from last September of the European Commission, the executive branch of the EU, that will require all technology giants to move to a uniform charging standard in electronic devices - and use a USB-C connection, which already exists in most Android devices today. Apple - including iPads and laptops.
The new rules - which will also apply to tablets, headphones, cameras and speakers - will finally come into force in 2024, as the European Commission intends to introduce legislation as early as this year, giving companies another year to get organized and make the necessary transition to USB-C connection.
