Consumers can buy the
9 -euro monthly ticket from
Deutsche Bahn
from May 23
– provided that after the Bundestag, the Bundesrat also approves the project this Friday (May 20).
The ticket is then available via the
DB Navigator app
and on all other digital rail channels, as the group announced last Sunday, according to the German Press Agency (dpa).
"It will also be available at around 5,500 Deutsche Bahn ticket machines and in over 400 DB travel centers in train stations," it said.
With the 9-euro ticket, passengers should pay nine euros

The tickets should also be able to be bought online or at the counter from other transport companies.
According to dpa, many associations have already announced that they also want to start selling on May 23rd.

Can the 9-euro ticket still fail?
It is now a question of the last political hurdle for the 9-euro monthly tickets for buses and trains in summer: On May 20th, the Federal Council can clear the way for the special campaign to start on June 1st.
The chamber of states makes the final decision on funding.
According to the law passed by the Bundestag the evening before, the federal government is to provide, among other things, 2.5 billion euros to compensate for loss of income.
There had been several calls from the federal states for more money in general for local public transport (ÖPNV).
Criticism of the draft law by the traffic light parliamentary groups was voiced, for example, in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

According to dpa, the tax rate for petrol should go down by almost 30 cents and for diesel by 14 cents.

As the Federal Ministry of Finance confirmed to dpa, the total tax relief is 35.2 cents per liter of petrol and 16.7 euros per liter of diesel.
