Do you have an old iPhone?

It seems like the time has come to upgrade:

According to a post on the WABetaInfo website, Apple users have been notified that they must update their operating system (iOS) version by October 24, 2022 in order to continue using the app.

These are very old models, from the beginning of the previous decade, so if you have purchased a new device in recent years - you have no reason to worry.

According to the announcement, the company will stop supporting the iOS 11 operating system and below - that is, it will no longer support the iPhone 5 launched in 2012 and its predecessors.

However, if you have a more recent model iPhone, such as an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S, with iOS 10 or iOS 11, you need to update your device to a newer version so that you can continue to use WhatsApp.

"Like other technology companies, in order to determine which devices we will stop supporting, every year we test the devices and software in the oldest version and with the lowest number of users," reads the official WhatsApp support page.

A WhatsApp message added: "Because devices and software make high-frequency changes, we check the operating systems we support and update the list regularly. Before we stop supporting your operating system, you will be notified directly on WhatsApp ahead of time and a reminder to upgrade several times."
