What to remember from this Monday

The Pfizer-BioNTech alliance announced on Monday that its anti-Covid vaccine was effective for children aged six months to five years, with three doses.

This announcement paves the way for the upcoming filing of applications for authorization in the United States and around the world.

During clinical trials, Pfizer-BioNTech evaluated the effectiveness of three injections, administered at 3 micrograms each, a dosage ten times lower than that used for adults and adolescents.

Competitor of Pfizer, the British pharmaceutical company Astrazeneca announced on Monday that its anti-Covid-19 vaccine Vaxzevria had been approved as a 3rd dose for adults in the European Union (EU).

The European Medicines Agency gave clearance on Thursday

“after a sufficient body of evidence demonstrating an increase in immune response after a third dose of Vaxzevria”

following two doses of Astrazeneca’s vaccine or another approved in EU, according to a statement on the agency's website.

In China, the province of Henan (center), one of the most populated in the country, will impose on its 99 million inhabitants a PCR test every 48 hours.

Unlike others, the country continues to confront the coronavirus with its zero Covid health strategy, which consists in particular of confinements, quarantines and massive screenings as soon as a few cases appear.

To avoid a fate similar to that of the two largest cities in the country, Henan has decided to impose massive screening, in the hope of identifying positive cases and isolating them as quickly as possible.
