Too expensive, too few charging stations, too little range: According to the "TÜV Mobility Study 2022", many people are still skeptical about e-mobility.

Berlin – The number of e-cars on German roads is growing and growing – some car manufacturers have even sworn off combustion engine development and will rely exclusively on battery technology in the future.

However, as a recent study shows, many people are still skeptical about e-mobility.

According to a study by the TÜV association, many people are still skeptical about e-mobility.

Electromobility: The study still reveals many reservations

According to the "TÜV Mobility Study 2022", only around one in four respondents (26 percent) can imagine buying an electric car as their next vehicle.

Ten percent stated that the purchase was "very likely", while 16 percent still consider buying an e-car to be "rather likely".

Many motorists still see major hurdles - compared to the "TÜV Mobility Study 2022" hardly anything has changed, and for the most part the concerns have even increased.

"TÜV Mobility Study 2022": The range of e-cars is still considered by many to be too short

49 percent (2020: 47 percent) of those surveyed consider the range of electric cars to be too short.

46 percent feel that the purchase costs of the electric vehicles are too high (2020: 49 percent).

The survey participants also take a critical view of the charging infrastructure: 44 percent stated that there were too few charging stations or that the charging stations were not easily accessible.

Charging station apps, as recently tested by Stiftung Warentest, are intended to help e-car drivers on long journeys.

Nevertheless, the managing director of the TÜV association, Dr.

Joachim Bühler: "The charging infrastructure urgently needs to be expanded in order to counter the still widespread "range anxiety".

Around a third of those surveyed (34 percent) said the charging process itself took too long.

However, there are quite a few things that can be done while charging.

"TÜV Mobility Study 2022": Doubts about the environmental friendliness of e-cars

Interesting: 42 percent of those surveyed question whether electric cars are actually more environmentally friendly than combustion vehicles.

Relatively few (13 percent) have concerns about safety, and only eleven percent consider the electric drive technology to be immature.

However, once people have switched from a combustion engine to an electric car, they are mostly satisfied and don't want to "switch back" - that's the result of a study by the online portal mobile.de.
