The parents of Kim, a young diplomat who died of malaria "in indifference" in Angola, denounce a "fault" of the State

24-year-old Kim Lavaud died of a severe form of malaria in June 2021 in Luanda. His parents believe that the French Embassy,


“We finally got to see her.

She was very weak, wasted, euphoric.

He was told not to worry.

In fact, she was high, she was dying, we didn't understand.

From her bed in the Sagrada Esperança, a clinic in Luanda, capital of Angola, Kim painfully removes the oxygen mask that keeps her alive to talk by videoconference to her parents, who finally manage to see their eldest daughter, affected by a severe form of malaria.

The family is reassured, she seems to be doing better.

“We were delighted to have been able to speak to him”, confide François and Christel Lavaud, the parents of the young woman.

Less than 24 hours later, the diplomat, attached to the French Embassy in Luanda, died.

She was 24 years old.
