As if to quickly fill the gap created between it and the others, and out of an urge to prove that even in the field of electricity Mercedes is still the leader of the car industry - the German manufacturer has in recent years been in a continuous sequence of electric versions or dedicated electric models.

In the list of the first type one can name the EQA the electric version of the GLA or the EQC which is the electric version of the GLC and soon the EQB, the electric version of the GLB and meanwhile it is also toying with the G class electric.

We started to see the representation of the second type with the EQS, and more of them will be seen soon, but in the meantime the bride of joy is the EQE that was marketed starting today in Israel.

The goal: reducing the drag coefficient (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

So for those unfamiliar with the naming strategy at Mercedes we will explain the model name, with the EQ indicating its affiliation to the electric propulsion side of the family and the E marking its position in the hierarchy - i.e. as the manufacturer’s saloon car.

With an exterior design very reminiscent of the EQS until one notices the more modest dimensions it is clear that the aim here is also to produce a uniform design language for models as is customary at Mercedes, but alongside this matter, along with frameless windows and removable door handles - also achieve as low drag coefficient as possible.

By the way modest dimensions, relatively modest yes?

It still stretches to a length of 495 cm in length, 196 cm in width and with a huge wheelbase of 312 cm. The completely separate trunk (unlike in the EQS) has a relatively modest volume - 430 liters.

In the future also with the full display of a screen on the passenger side (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

In the cabin, attention is naturally focused on the driver's environment, Mercedes' MBUX arrangement also appears here in its latest incarnation, with full Hebrew support, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 12.8-inch multimedia screen.

For the full configuration of the large screen (17.7 inches) and screen in front of the passenger you will have to wait for later production (due to the lack of chips) and in any case add it as a paid option.

The equipment list is very long already from the entry-level version, it was not so in the past, it has changed under current brand manager Gili Priante.

Sun window, full leather upholstery, climate control with particle filter, heating and electrification for seats, 19-inch rims, electric trunk opening and more.

An increase in finish levels also adds a top view, climate control for 4 areas, a Burmeister audio system, air shock absorbers, rear steering and more.

Safety systems include automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, "dead zone" vehicle warning, lane departure correction.

At the higher finish level there is also automatic lane departure in signal activation, automatic braking in cross-traffic detection, warning of opening a door in passing car detection and front lighting consisting of an array of 1.3 million pixels.

In terms of its propulsion system, the EQE will arrive in the 350 version at this point.

When the 43 AMG and 53 AMG versions join it at the end of the third quarter and at the end of the year respectively.

Back to the 350, it is a single electric motor, which drives the rear wheels and has a power of 292 hp and 56.5 kg.

The performance is good, but it's not the asphalt scorching numbers of the powerful electric cars, it's left to the AMG versions.

In the case of the 350 these are 6.4 seconds per 100 km / h and 210 km / h maximum.

The return comes in the form of its range, with the help of a 90.5 kWh battery it will reach a declared range of 660 km according to the manufacturer and after reductions (and legal advice, really) the importer declares 630 km. The car supports fast charging of up to 170 kW allows 250 km range in 15 minutes charging.

As mentioned, at this stage the EQE is marketed in the 350 paddle version and in four finish levels.

Electric will be the entry-level version and the price will be NIS 500,000.

Above it is the Electric ART, which will add NIS 100,000 to NIS 600,000 in the price tag.

For those who want a sporty appeal for the show, the Electric is also offered with an AMG line package for NIS 540,000, and for those who want the high level of finish with the sporty show package, feel free to mark the Electric ART with the AMG line for NIS 640,000.

In the future, the EQE43AMG will also join its 476 horses at a price of NIS 899,000.

The price includes a charging station, free treatments for the warranty period on the vehicle (3 years) and a warranty of 10 years or 250 thousand km for the battery and propulsion system.
