Singer Justin Bieber today revealed in a video posted on Instagram his health condition, which led him to cancel two performances in Toronto earlier this week.
The pop star was scheduled to perform in Toronto on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but decided at the last minute to postpone the performances because of what he described as a "disease".
Today (Friday) Bieber released a video in which he said he has Ramsey Hunt Syndrome, a virus that affects the facial nerves.
Half his face is paralyzed as a result, as Bieber demonstrates in the video.
"As you can see, that eye is not blinking," he says in the video.
"I can not smile on this side of my face ... there is complete paralysis in the center of my face. So for those who are frustrated by the cancellations of my next appearances, I am simply physically, obviously, unable to do them."

Bieber added that his body tells him to "slow down" and that he hopes fans will understand.
"It's pretty serious, as you can see. I wish that was not the case," he said.
"It's time to just rest and relax and get back to 100 percent, so I can do what I was born to do."
At this stage it is not yet clear what his condition means regarding performances in the coming months.
On October 13, Bieber is also scheduled to arrive in Israel for a performance at Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv.
This is expected to be the third time he has come to perform in the country, having previously been here in 2011 and 2017.
