La Chaîne Météo has placed 13 departments in the South-West on orange “heat wave” alert, while temperatures will continue to climb until they reach between 36 and 40° C in certain cities on Friday and Saturday.

The heat wave arriving from Spain progressed this Wednesday with temperatures between 30 and 35°C over the entire southern half of the country.

The worst is however to come with a mercury which should still panic by crossing the bar of 40°C locally on Friday.

As a reminder, to switch to heatwave alert, these thresholds must be reached for three days and three nights.

Météo-France has also activated the orange

“heat wave”

alert for 23 departments in a large south-west quarter, from Anjou to the Pyrenees, not to mention a heat island in Drôme / Ardèche, according to the latest point from Météo- France.

And that's just the beginning.

“The nights will remain very hot (20° to 25°C), with probable records of high minimum temperatures.

During the day, values close to 36° to 40°C will be reached from inland Brittany to Pays de la Loire, Poitou-Charentes and New Aquitaine, as well as in the lower Rhône valley.

For Languedoc-Roussillon, a slight attenuation of the heat wave will be felt on Saturday with the lifting of a sea wind”,
