A 42-year-old counterfeit wholesaler was indicted on Thursday June 9 in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) before being imprisoned.

He is suspected of supplying sellers of bags, shoes and sportswear for several months, imitating major brands that were sold on the markets of Île-de-France and mainly at Clignancourt flea markets.

Over 4,600 counterfeit coins

This story begins on February 16 when police officers from the Villeneuve-la-Garenne police station arrest three men, aged 31 to 43, in the act of selling counterfeit items from major brands.

In total, law enforcement got their hands on 4,065 pieces.

There are fake Vuitton bags, fake t-shirts, big name sportswear and Nike sneakers.

Everything is made in Turkey and China.

“The market value for the fake Vuitton bags alone is 200,000 euros, specifies a source close to the case.

We believe these items were made in Turkey.”

The trio of traders is placed in custody in Nanterre in the premises of the central office for the repression of counterfeiting (OCRFM).

They are put on trial.

He refuses to give the name of his supplier

On June 7, the police surprised this forty-something member of the fairground community at his home in Raincy (Seine-Saint-Denis).

He is placed in police custody in Nanterre.

And during his hearings, he concedes that he sells counterfeits but for fear of reprisals refuses to reveal the identity of the man who provides him with these products.

The Saint-Ouen flea market, once famous for its antiques, has become a spot for counterfeits that attract customers from all over the country and even from abroad.

The clothes that are worth 100 euros in the shops are sold there for 30 euros each, which obviously earned them their success.

Imports of counterfeit and pirated goods into the European Union now amount to 121 billion euros according to the OECD, or 6.8% of imports.
