Volkswagen owed it, did you too?

No one really craves a 7-seater car, but this car is the best thing that has happened to Volkswagen in Israel in a long time.

In version 1.5, he enters the market at a not low price, but one that aligns with the competition (Photo: Keinan Cohen)

For several years now, Volkswagen has not really been present in the Israeli market.

I mean, it is technically yes, and its models if it is polo, golf and even non-regularly imported artichokes are good, valued, quality, but high pricing from relevant competitors in almost every category leaves it mostly in the regular and returning customer base and in any case quite limited.

With the exception of the Golf GTI in the hot compact group, it is hard to say that it has a distinct dominance elsewhere.

This is exactly the situation that this model - the Tiguan Allspace and specifically the version with the 1.5-liter engine are supposed to change.

Put Volkswagen back at a point that is relevant to as many people as possible.

An addition of 23 cm compared to the regular Tiguan (Photo: Keinan Cohen)

As much as a Volkswagen and as much as a Tiguan, the exterior looks handsome, solid, no accelerated heartbeats or drama.

Simply the familiar look of the Tiguan plus 23 cm compared to the regular Tiguan and larger rear doors. The extra length and enlarged doors are due to the difference between the

Allspace and any other Tiguan - a pair of seats in the third row.

Excellent, a sense of solidity in the cabin and direct and unsophisticated human engineering - simple and efficient.

A quality and well-made driver environment (Photo: Keinan Cohen)

The space in the back seat is good, and even very good if the second row of seats is pushed back.

This of course will come at the expense of the space of the third row of seats.

Although entry there is possible even without body maneuvers that you are not sure if all the vertebrae will return to the place, it is preferable to the even narrower space in the Mitsubishi Outlander, but like all its peers, its use is limited to children only.

The trunk ranges from 230 liters with the third row of seats used or 700 liters when folded.

Either way the charging port is large and easy to use.

At the level of finish tested, the Elegance trim list is quite good and includes, among other things, a top display, an 8-inch screen with compatibility for Android and Apple, a digital dashboard, climate control split into 3 areas, an electric trunk door and more.

The second level of finish offered by the Tiguan AllSpace with this engine is the Elegance plus which adds electric direction to the seats, leather upholstery, adaptive dampers and driving mode selector.

The list of safety systems is also very nice and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane departure correction, vehicle identification in "dead zone" and more.

In the previous encounter with it, the Tiguan appeared with the 2.0-liter engine 190 hp, the performance was great, but it was not really surprising. This time it stabilizes with the 1.5-liter version, which produces 150 hp and 25.5 kg. The result is a vehicle with satisfactory performance in regular use, but on mountain roads it struggles and gasps to give a fast pace, detours need to be thought twice, and that is even before full load. Km per liter.

The steering and suspension calibration also prefer a relaxed ride over Jesus and delighted the driver, the level of grip is high and the steering is fast and precise - though these soak up more confidence than a smile.

This is the package deal, children are joy, not leader pleasure.

But everything's fine, no one buys a 7-seater crossover to scorch traffic lights or winding roads.

And to do what it's supposed to do, a pleasant and convenient means of transportation - the Tiguan does an excellent job.

It absorbs bumps and disturbances well, without excessive softness and without unpleasant stiffness.

The seats are also comfortable for long journeys and the general comfort also contributes to its successful noise isolation.

The category in which the Tiguan Allspace is located has become very popular in Israel in recent years.

The one who led this revolution and dominated the dome when it came to 7-seater crossovers is the Mitsubishi Outlander and alongside it the Skoda Kodiak.

But now two things have happened, the first is Volkswagen's entry into this game and the second is the increase in prices experienced by all models in this group.

These two play in his favor - firstly because it's clear that this is the first time this manufacturer has put up a very relevant competitor and secondly because its price - 185,000 shekels places it right next to 1,000 shekels above the entry-level version of the Outlander (which is less good than the critical third-row seat ) And NIS 3,500 less than its rival from the Kodiak with the same propulsion unit in its entry-level version.

What leads to a very encouraging bottom line for Volkswagen is that the 1.5-liter Tiguan Allspace is exactly what this brand needed.

A model that with very few compromises puts this manufacturer into direct competition where it can play on the whole pitch not only with the reputation but also with the reputation.
