Rhône: a four-year-old boy dies in an apartment fire in Vénissieux

The fire started shortly after midnight.

A four-year-old boy died in a fire in Vénissieux (Rhône), on the night of Friday to Saturday, reports Le Progrès.

The tragedy occurred in an apartment on the first floor of a building, located south of the city.

According to the local newspaper, a family of four, including two children, was present in the 50 m² apartment during the incident.

The police, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene.

Causes still unknown

Poisoned by the fumes, the child was transported to the nearest hospital, like the rest of his family.

He did not survive, despite a cardiac massage from the firefighters on the way, specifies BFM Lyon.

The father and the other child, aged 12, were slightly intoxicated.

The mother is in shock.

A firefighter slightly injured his arm trying to get the little victim from the burning apartment.

He was also taken to hospital.

Once the fire was brought under control, the 150 inhabitants of the building were able to return to their apartment overnight, completes the local channel.

The causes of this fire are still unknown at this time.
